The custom fit, violet leather collar is wonderful and I adore the simplicity, the color and the fit. It's my day collar, I wear it 24/7 with the exception of showers. It is wonderful and fits my personality perfectly.
We got the lock engraved. It was a beautiful silver lock, shiny and gorgeous when we recieved it. In less then two weeks the, I'm assuming it was there, protective coating wore off. The lock began to tarnish on both sides and it was not nearly as shiny and beautiful. I managed to look past the minor tarnish.
Within a few days of the tarnish building, and assumed disappearance of the protective coating, the lock began to leave a rash. The only reaction I've had to metals around my neck before was that fake metal green coloring. That's not what I got from the lock. It has created a very itchy and bumpy heart shaped rash at the center of my neck where the lock sat.
I've been forced to spin the color around and hide the engraved lock at the back of my neck under my hair in order to stop the rash from reappearing. I've tried a couple times hoping it was something else. I even tried to add a protectant to the back of the lock to keep it from direct contact with my skin. The few things I've used to do so have not held up for continued daily use.
So I'm at a loss for making this beautifully engraved lock a permanent part of my collar. We have begun looking elsewhere for a replacement lock, one that hopefully will not create such a reaction to my skin.
