Relationship Anarchy

Relationship Anarchy

Our Definition

a philosophy and lifestyle based on the rejection of socially enforced relationship norms and the belief that all interpersonal connections (romantic and otherwise) should be bound only by rules that are agreed upon by the involved parties. Sometimes intersects with Ethical Non-Monogamy.

Common Practices

Everyone is different! You'll see this repeated throughout our website and glossary. Common relationship anarchy practices include, but certainly aren't limited to:
  • An over-all non-conformist lifestyle or philosophy
  • Placing a lot of importance on individual choice
  • Rejection of the notion that sexual and romantic relationships are inherently more important than platonic relationships.

Oscar does not believe in blindly conforming to society’s rules regarding interpersonal relationships.

Derry has a strong need to decide on the nature and boundaries of her own relationships, without regard for what uninvolved parties expect.
