Scene

Scene

Our Definition

a self-contained kinky activity.

Common Practices & Experiences

Everyone is different! You'll see this repeated throughout our website and glossary. Common practices and experiences involving scenes include, but certainly aren't limited to:
  • Planning out specifics in advance with the other person or people involved.
  • Varying one’s usual levels of power exchange in-scene. (For example, total power exchange in scene and limited power exchange out of scene is a common shape for long-term D/s dynamics to take)
  • Enacting scenes at play parties
  • Viewing scenes as entirely separate from one’s sex life, or viewing the two things as intrinsically related.

George and Ella have a standing date for Tuesdays for erotic role play scenes.

Porsha, Sophia, and Carter are nesting partners and enjoy several scenes a week without much planning, incorporating a higher level of power exchange and sometimes specific forms of play every time they have sex.

We're gathering short anecdotes on this topic from experienced kinksters!
If you'd like to be quoted in our glossary, please email us a single paragraph describing the practices you'd like to share, along with whatever name you'd like to be credited with.
If your definition differs from ours, tell us how and why! We want to illustrate as many sides of kink as we can to both normalize kink and the diversity within it.
